Liebherr refrigeration energy consumption in Australia is measured using the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4474:2018, via a controlled laboratory test that determines annual electricity use in kWh per year for Energy Rating Labelling.

The 9-digit service number is located on the appliance compliance plate (second line on the compliance plate). More information and a detailed drawing of the compliance plate can be found on our website: Liebherr appliances compliance plate

The appliance details can be found on the appliance compliance plate. The compliance plate is located on the inside left bottom side of the appliance in the case of freestanding and fully integrated appliances, and on the outside right of chest freezers. More information and a detailed drawing of the compliance plate can be found on our website: Liebherr appliances compliance plate

SuperFrost rapidly boosts the freezer’s cooling performance so fresh food freezes quickly, helping to preserve vitamins, texture and flavour while protecting existing frozen items.

  • The feature can accessed by either the control panel on the appliance or on the Liebherr App for Device Device compatible appliances.
  • During the process, the freezer drops to approximately -32°C, with the cool down process commencing as soon as the feature is activated. The appliance will adapt the temperature depending on the quantity and temperature of the food being placed into the freezer.
  • Once you feel the food in the freezer is sufficiently cooled, you can turn off the SuperFrost function via the control panel or app. Alternatively, the SuperFrost feature will automatically turn off after a maximum of 65 hours. It is recommended to manually turn off after an 8-hour period for maximum energy efficiency of the appliance.

SuperCool rapidly chills the refrigerator compartment to keep newly added groceries from warming existing food, or if the door has accidentally been left open after an extended period of time.

  • The feature can accessed by either the control panel on the appliance or on the Liebherr App for Device Device compatible appliances.
  • During the cooling process, the fridge drops to approximately +2°C, with the cool down process commencing as soon as the feature is activated. The appliance will adapt the temperature depending on the quantity and temperature of the food being placed into the fridge.
  • These functions will turn off automatically once the set temperature has been re-established, or you can switch them off manually by pressing the button again or via the Liebherr App.

The indication ‘Storage time in case of fault’ indicates the number of hours until the temperature of the frozen food rises from –18 °C to –9 °C in case of an appliance fault.

From –9 °C upwards, this is a critical value beyond which food should no longer be consumed.

HolidayMode regulates the cooling temperature of appliance with and without BioFresh to approx. +15 °C. This saves energy, for example, when you are away for longer periods, and prevents unpleasant odours from developing. In appliances with freezing function, the freezer compartment temperature remains as set. We recommend that you do not store food in the fridge while the HolidayMode is in operation.

To ensure that a refrigerator or freezer always runs optimally everywhere, there is the indication of the climate class. This can be found on the Liebherr appliances compliance plate and provides information on the ambient temperatures under which an appliance can ideally be used.

These can be, for example:

  • SN from +10 °C to +32 °C
  • N from +16 °C to +32 °C
  • ST from +16 °C to +38 °C
  • T from +16 °C to +43 °C

Sometimes, these categories are combined. In this case, the first letters indicate the lower temperature and the second letters indicate the higher temperature. For example, if your appliance has been labelled climate class SN-T, the appliance can be operated at ambient temperatures from +10 °C to +43 °C.

All Liebherr appliances comply with Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 for energy consumption. These standards measure energy consumption in optimal conditions, so here are a few tips to help your appliance consume less energy: Optimising the use phase - Liebherr

  • Try not to open the door more often than you need to, and don't leave it open. Many Liebherr appliances come with a door alarm, and the SmartDevice app can also alert you to an open appliance door when you're not next to the appliance.
  • Keep your appliance cool - an appliance positioned near a radiator other heat source will need to work harder to keep the contents cool.
  • Ensure your appliance is installed correctly as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Clean your door seal regularly. Keeping the seal clean will prevent anything that might affect the door closing properly, and will help you spot any cracks or splits that indicate you need to replace the seal. Replacement door seals can be purchased through our Spare Parts page
  • Try to prevent your appliance from being exposed to direct sunlight by keeping curtains and blinds closed on very sunny days.
  • Don't put food in your appliance until the food has cooled to room temperature - your appliance will have to work harder to cool it down otherwise.
  • Check your temperature settings. -18°C is the optimum temperature for most freezers.
  • Fill the space in your freezer so that there is less air to keep cool, but don't over pack it. Cold storage accumulators can help fill space, keep the products cold when the door is open, provide backup in the event of a power failure, and make handy cool packs for picnics.
  • If your freezer is not NoFrost, make sure you defrost it regularly. Ice build up will make your freezer work harder.
  • Many of our freestanding appliances only have drawers, such as NoFrost freezers, Side-by-Side freezer sides and full BioFresh fridges. Closing off unused drawers when you aren't using the full capacity

A child lock in Liebherr appliances prevents the appliance from being switched off accidentally. You activate the child lock by pressing the key symbol. When active, this lights up on the integrated display in the appliance.

Depending on the model, a Liebherr freezer produces approximately 0.8 kg to 1.4 kg of ice within a 24hour period, quantity is model dependant. Ice output can vary depending on factors such as ambient room temperature, freezer temperature setting, frequency of drawer/door opening, water supply conditions, and whether the IceMaker has recently been activated or refilled.

To Increase the size of Ice cubes, please follow the steps

The switch-on frequency and running time of a fridge or freezer will vary greatly depending on the model. Typically, the running time of energy-saving models is longer and yet the energy consumption is lower. For example, appliances with speed-controlled compressors switch to a lower speed when the refrigeration demand is low. Although this increases the running time, energy is still saved. Please refer to the operating instructions for more information on this topic.

Liebherr BioFresh works by maintaining a temperature of just above 0 °C, combined with controlled humidity inside specialised drawers. This creates the ideal storage environment for different types of food. Higher humidity keeps fruit and vegetables crisp and fresh, while lower humidity is ideal for meat, fish and dairy.

By slowing the natural ageing process of food, BioFresh helps preserve freshness, flavour, nutrients and appearance for significantly longer than a standard refrigerator.

Humidity settings can vary depending on your model:

  • On most models, humidity is adjusted using sliding controls located above the drawers Slide open for higher humidity (ideal for fruits and vegetables)
  • Slide closed for lower humidity (ideal for meat, dairy, and deli items)
  • On newer models, the sliders are located inside the drawer, so they may not be visible externally

For best results, we recommend:

  • Referring to your instruction manual for model-specific guidance
  • Downloading the BioFresh app, which provides advice on ideal humidity levels and food storage times

The SuperCool function lowers the cooling temperature to the lowest cooling temperature (+2 °C) for up to 12 hours. This function is ideal for quickly cooling freshly stored food.

Once installed, allow 24hrs for the temperature to come down and settle. Temperature controls can vary depending on your model, but there are a few general guidelines:

  • On fridge/freezer models, the fridge controls are typically on the left and the freezer controls on the right
  • The freezer side usually includes a “SuperFrost” function, while the fridge side includes “SuperCool” • When adjusting the temperature, press the up or down button—the flashing number indicates the current set temperature. When you set the temperature to -18, it will flash and then go back to the temperature it’s reading inside of the appliance. Please allow time for this to reach the set temperature.
  • If the freezer display shows two dashes (--), the temperature cannot currently be read
  • If the appliance is in Demo Mode, you can find more information on how to remove it in the operating instructions

The SuperFrost function in Liebherr appliances quickly lowers the temperature to the coldest freezing temperature (–32 °C), creating cold reserves for vitamin-preserving freezing. The SuperFrost function returns to normal mode as soon as the freezing process is complete, after 65 hours at the most, and accordingly helps to save electricity.

Please check that the door is fully closed and not obstructed, that the door seal is intact and secure all the way around, and that the appliance is level. Ensuring all of these are correct should resolve the issue.

This is usually caused by a cracked ice tray or water overflowing within the unit. please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

If your ice maker is not producing ice or water, or has stopped working, please check the following:

1. Basic checks

  • Ensure the water supply is turned on
  • Check that the braided hose is not kinked or obstructed
  • For integrated models, confirm with your installer that the unit has been installed and connected correctly
  • If the appliance has just been installed, allow up to 24 hours for ice production to begin
  • Ensure the ice maker is turned on via the display

2. Check for visible issues

  • Look for any physical damage (e.g. tray fallen out, loose wire)
  • Ensure the drawers are properly secured

3. Check temperature

  • The freezer should be set to -18°C for optimal ice production
  • If adjusted, allow 24 hours for production to resume

4. Indicator lights & alerts

  • Flashing light: Indicates a water supply interruption
  • Check for any warning lights on the display
  • Ensure the air or water filter does not require replacing

5. Check the drawer magnet

  • Locate the front of the ice bucket (where ice drops into)
  • From a top view, check for a small grey or silver rectangular magnet
  • If missing, the ice maker will not produce ice
  • You may temporarily use the magnet from the adjacent small bucket if available

If the issue persists, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

This may indicate a crack in the ice maker or an issue with the hose connection. Please contact your installer.

The water drains into an evaporator tray that sits on top of the compressor. The heat from the appliance causes the water to evaporate, and the cycle of freezing and defrosting then repeats.

-18°C is the recommended setting for optimal freezer performance, and is required for the ice maker to function correctly.

The BioFresh drawer normally has a temperature of just above 0 °C. If this deviates, the setting may have been changed. You can find more information on setting the temperature in BioFresh appliances in the operating instructions

Water droplets on the rear wall in the interior are function-related and completely normal. The appliance is in the defrosting process when this occurs. Water droplets that settle on the rear wall are channelled into the defrost water evaporation tray via the defrost water gutter. Please ensure that the defrost water is able to drain unhindered through the opening of the defrost gutter on the rear wall. Please refer to the operating instructions for further information.

The temperature in the fridge or freezer will always depend on what and how much you have stored in it.

The following factors can also influence the temperature:

Too cold / too warm: Check the temperature set. If the appliance is mechanically controlled, please see the Operating instructions

Too warm:

  • The door of the appliance is not properly closed.
  • Ventilation and air extraction are not working adequately.
  • The ambient temperature does not correspond to the specified climate class.
  • The appliance door has been opened too often or for too long.
  • Large quantities of fresh food were placed in the appliance without first activating SuperCool/SuperFrost.
  • The appliance is too close to a heat source.

Too cold: The SuperCool/SuperFrost function was inadvertently activated (Only applies to appliances with the SuperCool and SuperFrost function)

The operating instructions provide additional information on setting the temperature.

If none of the items listed above assist you, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Please first check the fridge drain hole, as water can sometimes appear to be coming from the freezer when it is actually from the fridge. In some cases, the ice maker may not be properly connected. If you are certain the water is coming from the freezer itself, please turn off the water supply to the appliance. Please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

First, check whether the ice appears as droplets or sheets. Small droplets are completely normal. If you are seeing sheets of ice, or if any items inside are touching the rear wall, please remove them and monitor the appliance for 24 hours. If sheets of ice continue to form, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Yes, this is completely normal. The condensation will freeze into droplets and then defrost down the drain hole as part of the appliance’s regular cycle. Please note: if you have a Bio-Fresh model, this will not occur on the back lining as there is a panel in front.

Please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

This may be due to several reasons:

  • The appliance is not switched on.
  • The door of your appliance was not closed properly and this caused the interior light to switch off after 15 minutes.
  • The door magnet is missing and this causes the door closing not being detected. The interior light is switched off after 15 minutes
  • The interior light is defective. Please replace it as described in the operating instructions (except for LED lighting).
  • When Sabbath Mode is activated, the interior light will not turn on when the door is opened. This is intentional, as Sabbath Mode disables lights and other electronic responses to comply with religious observance

If the issue persists, please contact our customer service team

In some cases, handles can be replaced by yourself directly. Please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will advise the best course of action for your model.

If the unit is integrated, the door alignment may be related to the installation of the cabinet panels and their weight allowance. Please check that your cabinet maker has installed the panels correctly and that the unit is level. If the issue persists, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Food placed directly against the rear wall can freeze. Please ensure no items are touching the back of the fridge. Also check that the temperature setting is appropriate for your needs by referring to your manual. If the problem continues, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

The Bio-Fresh compartment temperature can be adjusted between B1 (lowest temperature and B9 (highest temperature). Please refer to your appliance manual for instructions on changing the setting. If adjusting the temperature does not resolve the issue, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Try adjusting the temperature controls by referring to your appliance manual. Check that the door is closing correctly and that nothing is obstructing it. If the issue continues, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Door shelf damage is usually caused by overloading the shelves with heavy items or impact from repeated use, leading to stress and eventual cracking of the plastic brackets. If you’d like to get a replacement, please visit our Spare Parts shop or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

Simply clean the drainage hole using a curtain wire without the hook attached, curtain wire needs to be approx 30cm in length, and you should see drainage straight away. Please ensure there are no contents of the refrigerator touching the rear wall of the appliance. If the issue persists, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Fridges and freezers generate noises that are of a technical nature and cannot be avoided. These include, for example, compressor operating noises, fan noises, flow or injection noises. Noises such as humming, hissing, bubbling, gurgling cannot be avoided entirely and are nothing to be concerned about. You can find more information on this topic in the operating instructions

If the noise from your appliance is causing you concern, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Press the alarm button to switch off the alarm. Three beeps indicate the door has been left open; four beeps indicate the temperature is rising. If the temperature has been rising for an extended period i.e.1 day, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

We recommend performing a manual defrost. Turn off the appliance for 24 hours with the doors open, and place towels on the floor as water will run out. Once complete, turn the appliance back on and leave it for a further 24 hours to ensure no ice is interfering with the fan.

Before commencing the defrosting process, remove all food from the freezer and store it safely in another freezer or an insulated cooler to prevent thawing and food spoilage.

If the issue continues after this, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Crisper drawers can become damaged over time due to regular use. Please note that cosmetic damage is not covered under warranty.

If you’d like to purchase a new crisper drawer, please visit our Spare Parts shop or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

The first glass may be slightly warmer than expected, due to the water sitting in the appliance door waiting to be dispensed. Try pouring a second or third glass and the water should be at the correct temperature as it will then come straight from the chilled water storage.

Most new Liebherr appliances are coated with Smart Steel, which simply needs to be wiped down with a microfibre cloth and mild soapy water.

Stainless steel resists corrosion because it forms a thin, invisible chromium-oxide passive layer. When that layer is damaged or contaminated, rust can appear—even on premium appliances like Liebherr.

Please note that using stainless steel cleaner on Smart Steel models will damage the protective coating and cause rust. Older Liebherr appliances feature marine-grade stainless steel and should be maintained with stainless steel cleaner. If you are unsure which model you have, please complete the ‘Product Issue/Fault’ form below and our team will be in touch.

We recommend using only our cleaners for all Liebherr stainless steel appliances. Clean your stainless steel appliance with our stainless steel cleaner and then polish it with the stainless steel polish.

These products must not be used on SmartSteel fronts. We recommend cleaning with a damp cloth and immediately wiping dry with a cotton cloth. More information on cleaning fridges can be found on our FreshMag blog: ‘The best way to clean your refrigerator’.

We recommend cleaning door seals with clean water only. You can add a little washing-up liquid to the water to remove stubborn dirt.

Low humidity and a temperature just above freezing are ideal for storing meat, fish, and dairy products. Liebherr’s BioFresh-DrySafe keeps this climate consistently available at all times and creates a dry environment that is ideal for this type of food.

You can find out more about BioFresh on our BioFresh page

Fruit and vegetables are best kept unpackaged in the BioFresh HydroSafe. If it is well filled, the climate is dewy fresh with a maximum humidity of 90 per cent. This is because fruit and vegetables naturally have a high water content and this needs to be maintained during storage. The high humidity and temperatures of almost 0 °C in the HydroSafe mean that the water stays in the food – and it stays crisp and fresh for longer.

You can find out more about BioFresh on our BioFresh page.

Regular maintenance can help prevent blockage. Ensure the dry back wall remains unobstructed and no items are touching it. Once a quarter, flush the drain hole with warm salty water and wipe dry with a cloth.
